Abstract: | Efficiency and the cost effectiveness are of the utmost importance for a solar cell to be commercialized. “Quantum dot sensitized solar cells” (QDSSC), among all generation of solar cells, fulfills almost every important feature (minimum cost, small device size, minimum cost of the system, minimum loss in the performance over the time and high absorption coefficient) as an economical solar cell. However, efficiency of QDSSC (~ 18.1 %) is still a barrier in the path of its commercialization. The main reason behind this low efficiency is the use of inappropriate materials in its important components (electron transport material, absorbers or quantum dots or sensitizers, counter electrode). |
